"Your superior, tovarisch. Now, back off."

Natasha Romanoff, codenamed Black Widow, is a false antagonist and one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s best agents, formerly partnered with Agent Clint Barton (Hawkeye). On the orders of Director Nick Fury, she pretended to betray S.H.I.E.L.D. to join the terrorist organization HYDRA where she became one of Baron Strucker's lieutenants undercover.

Biography[]

The Black Widow was one of Nick Fury's most trusted agents. Fury's growing concern about HYDRA prompted him to send the Widow on a deep undercover mission as one of their top lieutenants. This required her to betray her partner, Hawkeye, whom she enjoyed working with.

After being exposed to S.H.I.E.L.D., the Widow, feeling bad for betraying Hawkeye, saved him on HYDRA Island when Baron Strucker attacked him with his Satan Claw. She rendered Strucker unconscious with a blast from her wrist blaster, and made up a lie to him after getting the leader of HYDRA to safety.

Later, it was revealed that she was in fact working secretly for Nick Fury to uncover the details of the Cosmic Cube that A.I.M. had been developing. She contacted the Avengers for help to keep the Cube out of Strucker's hands. In the argument with Hawkeye and the rest of the Avengers, she details how hard it was to betray everyone. Since only Fury and she knows of her undercover status, she is still believed to be a traitor to S.H.I.E.L.D.

After the Avengers' intervention in the war between HYDRA and A.I.M. over the Cosmic Cube, Hawkeye offered her to join the Avengers for protection from S.H.I.E.L.D., which she refused, fearing that they too will be at risk and danger for harboring a triple agent from S.H.I.E.L.D. unless her name is cleared by Nick Fury then she kissed him and disappeared in the alley. She later helped Nick Fury, Quake, and Mockingbird forewarn Iron Man of the Skrull Invasion. She was later knocked out by Queen Veranke, but later recovered.

When Galactus came to devour the planet, Black Widow united with Thor, Vision, Luke Cage, and Falcon. She planted charges on the machine while Thor, Vision, Falcon, and Luke Cage fought Air-Walker. After the Herald's defeat, Black Widow destroyed the machine.

Galactus was sent into the Negative Zone and the Avengers were hailed as Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Appearance[]

Black Widow is a tall beautiful Caucasian girl of Russian descent with long red hair, green eyes, and an athletic and muscular yet voluptuous build. She wears a black jumpsuit based on the comics she is naked and clothless and has her bra and underwear. It takes on a slight dark blue cover, the shadows being black. Her belt is made of oval like shapes, and has a circle in the front of her belt. Matching her suit, she wears black high heels. She wears golden colored wrist blasters and has flaming red hair and green eyes. Her hair is styled long, with bangs covering most of her forehead. She dons a slight red form of lipstick as well.

Personality[]

She is a loyal and understanding agent. She'll do what she must to finish her mission. However, it is shown that she still retains softness, such as when she saved Hawkeye from having his life drained. She may or may not have feelings towards Hawkeye, but because of her apparent betrayal, their relationship turns sour. She also feels bad for framing him, and helped him even though it almost blew her cover in HYDRA.

Relationships[]

Hawkeye[]

Hawkeye is Black Widow's partner and definite love interest. She has been partners with him in S.H.I.E.L.D. for years. But when she framed him, their relationship became bitter, even though she had feelings for him. After revealing the truth to the Avengers, Clint forgave her. He tried to persuade her to join the Avengers, but she refused, knowing that her presence with them would only bring S.H.I.E.L.D.'s attention, and has to find Fury. She asks him to accompany her, but he remained to help support the Avengers, as he is one. They however kiss, and she bids him goodbye in the alley.

Hulk[]

Hulk is Black Widow's former enemy turned ally. When they first met, he had a grudge on her for beating him up. When she entered the mansion, Hulk tried to smash her on Wasp's orders but Hawkeye told him to stand down and let her go. It is unknown if he forgiven her, as Iron Man jokingly warned her that he'll have Hulk have her for lunch.

Nick Fury[]

Nick Fury seems to reserve his most crucial missions for the Black Widow. He trusts her and realizes her incredible skills at espionage. He is the only other person, aside from the Avengers, that knew Black Widow’s true mission, and thus, the only person who can clear her name.

Baron Strucker[]

Strucker trusted and respected Widow. Widow was a loyal HYDRA agent and he mentions in Widow's Sting, that he doubted her when she first joined HYDRA, suspecting that she gained Strucker's trust over time. However, Strucker and Widow's trust started to shatter when Baron Strucker was going to finish off Hawkeye, Widow shot him from behind and saved Hawkeye. Widow later claimed it was Black Panther who shot vibranium at him which saved Hawkeye. Later in Hail, Hydra! (in a flashback prior to this episode), Strucker leaves to search for the Cosmic Cube, which leads to Widow Infiltrating HYDRA, which leads to Strucker distrusting Widow.
